Professor Pavlos Kollias
Bio
Pavlos Kollias is a Professor of Atmospheric Sciences at Stony Brook University and has a joint appointment with the Department of Environmental and Climate Sciences at Brookhaven National Laboratory since 2016. Previously he was a Canada Research Chair at McGill University, Montreal Canada. Kollias research focuses on the understanding of the microphysical and dynamical processes that act at the cloud scale and their accurate representation in numerical models. He is also interested in radar meteorology and technology, and the development and application of novel phased-array and spaceborne radars in weather and climate research. Kollias is the author or co-author of over 150 peer-reviewed scientific articles in the areas of millimeter wavelength radar research, radar technology, signal processing and cloud and precipitation dynamics and microphysics. Education Ph.D., Meteorology, University of Miami, FL, 2000 M.Sc., Environmental Physics, The University of Athens, Greece, 1996 B.S., Physics, The University of Athens, Greece, 1994 |
